Post-Production Workflow Accelerates with Version 2 of EDIROL VC Series Multi-format Video Converter.

January 31, 2008 – Bellingham, WA. – Today Roland Systems Group announced Version 2.0 firmware update for the EDIROL VC-300HD and VC-200HD Multi-format Video Converters.

The update is packed with new features including conversion support for frame rates such as 24p and 23.98p  including progressive segmented frames and pull-down formats popular in high-end HDV cameras.

The activation of the RS-422A on the back panel allows the VC to be remotely controlled including via network when used with 3rd party external device servers.  This is ideal for post and broadcast environments where control equipment and converters are located in a separate room or even across the ocean.

Additionally the newly added 4-point gamma correction function enables adjustment of bright/dark parts independently and enhances images to have a more film-like color. Newly improved optimized algorithms of the built-in scaler has resulted in further improvements in the image quality of the VC and achieves highly accurate processing in all types of conversion including up, down and cross-conversion.  Additional output function features include an SDI thru function which enables monitor or split output capabilities on the VC-300HD SDI port.  User can now add CGMS-D (Copy Generation Management System - Digital) to the iLink output signal which protects unlawful reproduction of digital content.

Additional features for improved workflow include the ability to save up to 3 user preset parameters such as input signal, conversion or processing and remote controllability.

The VC-200HD and VC-300HD offer bi-directional conversion and scaling between component SD/HD, HDV/DV, DVI-I and with the VC-300HD model, SD/HD-SDI. The VC series will also embed accompanying audio into the DV/HDV stream and embed up to four channels of audio into the SDI/HD-SDI stream. The VC series provides audio delay adjustments in millisecond or frame increments for lip/audio sync with the video source as well as In/Out sync terminals to allow Genlock with external devices.

The Version 2.0 firmware release for the VC-200HD and VC-300HD is shipping now on all new units. Registered customers of Version 1.0 units are eligible for the update. More information >
